John Chidgey

An Electrical Engineer with two decades of industry experience in Australia and North America. An unrestricted Amateur (Ham) Radio operator at age 19 and programmed in many software languages and for various consumer platforms including DOS, Palm OS, Windows and iOS. For industrial automation experience in Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Omron, Yokogawa and many more as well as HMIs and SCADA systems from Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, Citect and more.

Have been involved in engineering projects including work as both client, consultant, designer, architect and integrator and production operations working as the fault-finder, coder, team leader, engineering manager and technical principal engineer. Engineering industries span pharmaceutical, food and beverage, light and heavy industrial, mining, oil and gas, water and wastewater treatment and includes hazardous area design, HAZOP and SIL/Safety studies. Also have experience in reliability modelling, HMI design, alarm management, electrical design, cable sizing, earthing, lightning protection, solar, telemetry, surge protection and network design to name a few…
